Uttaranchal which is now named Uttarakhand is one of the most fascinating and beautiful state of India.Since November 2000 Uttarakhand became the 27th state of the Republic of India.Uttaranchal mainly comprises the hilly regions of Uttar Pradesh.Uttarakhand is garded by Himachal Pradesh in the north-west and Uttar Pradesh in the South, and has international borders with Nepal and China.It is also known as Devbhoomi Uttarakhand which means the “land of gods”. Ganga, Yamuna, Saryoo, Kosi and dozens of other rivers initiate from Uttaranchal. In the Hindu mythology Ganga is the most sanctified river. Uttarakhand divided in two part, one is Kumaon himalayas  and other one is Garwhal Himalayas.

Nainital is situated in the picturesque Kumaon region is situated around the lake Naini. Seven mountains or the Sapta Shring surrounds the city. Bageshwar is one of the main camping sites for the journey to Pindari Glacier, which is situated at a height of 3,820 meters. Sitlakhet is the new tourist resort on the Syahi Devi hill. Kafni Glacier is also close by(around 3,870 meters above sea level).On the banks of Gomti   (a local river) Baijnath is situated in Garur Valley, is an idyllic place. It is famous for its 13th century temples. Jageshwar has Shiva temples and is on the Almora-Pithoragarh road and is situated in a densely wooded beautiful narrow valley.They are a marvel to see for their artistic beauty and crafts-manship.Jageshwar is among the 12-jyotir lingas in the country.
Ranikhet (The Queen's Field) has come to be known so because according to popular belief, this spot had won the heart of Rani Padmini, Queen of Raja Sudhardev and she chose this scenic spot to be her abode. To view nature & its elements in full harmony, the right place to be is Ranikhet. At on altitude of 1829m, north of Nainital (61 km) and well connected to Almora (44km) & Kathgodam (83km), Ranikhet ( km) has emerged as a favoured all season destination.

Kedarnath is the seat of Lord Shiva.It is one of the twelve "Jyotirlingas" of Lord Shiva. Lying at an altitude of 3584 m at the head of river Mandakini, the shrine of Kedarnath Temple is amongst the holiest pilgrimage for the Hindus.Kedar meaning powerful is another name of Lord Shiva the protector and the destroyer.Badrinath is situated in the lap of Nar-Narayan Parvat, with the towering Neelkanth peak 6,597mts. in the background. Also known as the Vishal Badri, the largest among the five Badris, Among them were Badrikashram (Badrinath temple) in the north, Rameshwaram in the south, Dwarkapuri in the west and Jagannath Puri in the east. Badrinath situated at an elevation of 3,133 mts. is considered to be amongst the most pious.The revered shrine of Gangotri, situated at an altitude of 3,200 mts. about sea-level amidst sylvan surroundings, constitutes one of the most important pilgrimages for the devout Hindu. Every year thousands of pilgrims through the sacred shrine between May & October. The water from Gangotri is carried to offer to Lord Shiva. It is believed that this water has amrit (nectar) in it and will soothe the throat of Shiva who gulp the poison.The sacred shrine of Yamunotri, source of the river Yamuna, is the westernmost shrine in the Garhwal Himalayas, perched atop a flank of Bandar Poonch Parvat. The chief attraction at Yamunotri is the temple devoted to goddess Yamuna and the holy thermal springs at Jankichatti (7 km. Away).The actual source a frozen lake of ice & glacier (Champasar glacier also known as Yamunotri Glacier) located on the Kalind mountain at the height of 4421 m above sea level, about 1 km further up, is not frequented generally as it is not accessible and hence the shrine has been located on the foot of the hill. The approach is extremely difficult and pilgrims therefore offer pooja at the temple itself.
